Chapter 10: The Door That Should Have Stayed Closed...

The Knock That Changed Everything..

Eve Lancaster sat frozen.

The knock at her door echoed through the apartment, shattering the silence, sending chills racing down her spine.

It wasn’t loud.
It wasn’t frantic.

It was slow. Measured. Expected.

And that was the worst part.

Whoever was on the other side wasn’t rushing to get in.
They were waiting.

Because they already knew she would open it.

Eve’s pulse hammered in her throat. She could still see the file glowing on her laptop screen—the classified records, the terrifying truth about who Damian Cross really was.

A weapon. A ghost. A man who didn’t exist ?

A man who had been assigned to her.

Her fingers curled into fists at her sides, her breath shaky as she forced herself to stand. She was being hunted. She was already part of something she didn’t understand.

And now, she was about to face it.

The Moment She Opened the Door..

Eve reached for the handle, hesitating only for a second before pulling it open.

The world tilted.

She knew who it was before she saw his face.

Damian Cross stood on the other side.

He wasn’t surprised.
Wasn’t impatient.

He was waiting.

He leaned against the doorframe, dressed in black, his gaze steady, his smirk lazy—like he had already won before the game had even started.

Eve sucked in a sharp breath.

He was here.
Standing in her doorway like he belonged there.

She had searched for him.
She had uncovered truths she wasn’t meant to see.

And now, he had come to collect his reward.

Her.

The First Command..

Damian didn’t speak right away.

He let the tension stretch between them, let her pulse roar loud in the silence. Let her feel the weight of his presence pressing against her like unseen hands.

Thensoftly, slowly, inevitablyhe spoke.

"Come with me."

Eve’s breath hitched.

Her fingers tightened around the doorframe. “Why?”

Damian chuckled—low, deep, dangerous.

“You know why.”

His voice slid against her skin like silk wrapped around steel, cutting and smooth, impossible to ignore.

Eve swallowed, forcing herself to stand straighter. “And if I don’t?”

Damian’s smirk deepened.

“You will.”

The Collapse of Resistance...

Eve knew she shouldn’t go.

She knew that stepping into his world would mean walking into something irreversible, something she couldn’t control.

But the truth was far worse than that.

Because deep down, beneath logic and fear—she already knew she would follow.

She hated herself for it.
Hated the way her body betrayed her, the way her pulse quickened instead of steadied, the way something inside her craved the darkness he was offering.

Damian waited.
Waited for her to make the choice she had already made.

And when she finally stepped forward, crossing the threshold, letting the door shut behind her—

He smiled.

Because now, Eve Lancaster was exactly where she was meant to be.

I don’t walk in the light. I make shadows kneel. Blood-inked thoughts, velvet rage, and a kiss that knows your secrets before you speak them.
